If I could make postcards of my holiday weekend with Leigh in nyc, they would look like this:
I don't know I think I may have a new side-business on my hands.
Anyway, needless to say we had a great time but as always it went too fast.
Here are a few highlights.
*ahem*
Thursday. Thanksgiving. We witnessed a young newlywed from Mississippi cry (real tears) and wander around the bar looking for her husband who had somehow gone missing. Don't worry, about 30 minutes, 10 laps and 3 calls to her hotel in Rockefeller Center later-he came stumbling back in. There was some discussion and then they decided to do what any intelligent adults would do.
Order a bottle of wine.
And we did what any normal people would do-watched in amusement as we enjoyed our cheese plate and grey goose martinis.
Oh to be a fly on the wall in that room on Friday morning. However he DID leave his wallet there so whether or not they actually made it back to the hotel I guess we'll never know.
Ahh to be young and in love.
Friday it was too cold to be outside, so after brunch we ducked into my new favorite dive bar for a drink-and didn't come out until it was dark.
We DID however meet some new lovely and and insightful new friends.
One woman (who drank "well vodka in a wine glass") was nice enough to inform us that "Alaska was in fact part of the United States and because of that they also celebrate Thanksgving..."
We also learned that you can catch some pretty big fish off of the Triborough Bridge.
Oh and the man on the far end of the bar-had he not kept falling asleep sitting up-I'm SURE he would have had some lovely stories for us as well.
All in all it was a pretty amazing day. However after listening to me sing Captain and Tennille's Love Will Keep Us Together and Dire Straits' Walk of Life (a few times) Leigh had seen enough of BAR-for that day anyway.
Rest assured I'll be seing "the guys" Monday's for MNF. Can't wait.
I wonder if Mike-the-Marine-turned-Broadway-stage-hand will be there.
Saturday and Sunday were followed by more shenanigans but you get the idea.
I hope you all had as much fun as I did over the holiday.
Mom see you Saturday.
Leigh-miss you already.
12.20.08 ll and dg - sb like it's 2003.
